Hi my name is
I am a and I am old.
My friends here at LUOSKO German Shepherd Dog Rescue have been looking after me and have written a little about me (below)
They say that I am most
an experienced family / working home
Tamba can come across a little scary upon first meet as he is one heck of a German Shepherd who loves to make his presence known, however he is a joy to be around, once he knows you he loves his cuddles and scratches. He loves to play with his favourite toys which are his tennis balls (and prized possessions) and he can’t get enough of them, although Tamba might come across really sweet he definitely has a mischievous side!
He can certainly press your buttons when he wants to, this is why we would like someone who's more experienced with the breed to be able to give him a loving home but still give him the structure and discipline he needs! He is still a young dog and at the same time he is quite a chunk of dog! So not really suited for a home with young children running around.
He can get over excited quite easily which can cause him to use his mouth, but with the correct family and a little patience he will make someone a lovely companion.
Nervous around new people - Has been around children - Has been around other dogs (same size) - Not been around cats
Remember we work differently than what you may be used to with other rescues. Although all our dogs are advertised on here, we DO NOT work on a request basis, in other words WE will choose the most appropriate dog(s) that match your criteria from your completed pre-adoption form and your initial meeting. If you want a "quick" adoption with little or no commitment then we are NOT the rescue for you, similarly if 100 miles plus round trips per visit are "too much" then please seek a rescue closer to your area as you will be required to attend our site several times before your final adoption day.
Please DO NOT email us asking for more information or how to adopt, all the information we have is on this website and you can start the adoption process by completing our pre-adoption form. The dogs information section is updated as and when we have the information at hand, sometimes dogs come to us with little or no information or are still under assessment, in these cases more details will be added in due course.
Please note that we operate on a voluntary basis which means that all our staff give up their free time to help the rescue in whatever ways they can. This means that it can take longer than anticipated to get back to potential adoption families but please be reassured that if you submit a pre-adoption form a member of our re-homing team will be in touch as soon as they can, unfortunately during busy periods this can take up to 30-60 days.
ALL adoptions are subject to our 7 point adoption procedure to assess dog vs family suitability (NO exceptions) which on average takes a minimum of 3 weeks to complete, Home checks are required for all applications (other rescues home checks will not be accepted). Photo ID must be provided by the potential adopter. A deposit is required to 'hold' a dog and our standard adoption fee is £350.00.
Within reason all dogs/bitches will be neutered/spayed before going to their new homes, providing that they are at least 2.5 - 3 years old. If due to age or medical reasons they are not neutered or spayed, you, the adopter will be required to sign a neuter/spay contract which will form part of your adoption.
All our dogs are micro-chipped (dual registration to our rescue where possible). Before leaving for new homes all dogs will receive a full health check from our vet and will be titre tested and / or brought up to date with vaccinations, worming & flea treatment. All dogs will go to their new homes with a welcome pack, adoption certificate, training voucher, secondary dog tag as well as 4 Weeks Free Insurance. We will provide after care, training at a reduced rate and advice after adoption. Every dog has rescue backup for life through ourselves and will be required to return to rescue should adoptions fail for whatever reason.
Working homes will only be considered for persons who come recommended by one of our working outlets and only for dogs we feel suitable for a working role.
Adoption fees are not a payment for your dog, they are a donation to the rescue to help the many other dogs that will come in to our care in the future, to pay existing vet bills and to help with the general running of the rescue, they are non negotiable and non refundable. All adoptive families will be subject to impromptu visits to ensure our dogs are well cared for and for us to assist with any issues that may arise.
