At LUOSKO German Shepherd Dog Rescue, our volunteers are the lifeblood of everything we do. From cleaning kennels and walking dogs to managing admin and updating social media, our dedicated team of volunteers play a vital role in keeping our rescue running and our dogs happy, healthy, and on their way to loving homes.
Kennel volunteers are truly at the heart of daily life here. Their hard work ensures our dogs are not just safe—but also thriving. As a kennel volunteer, you’ll help with a wide range of important tasks, including:

Dog walking – Giving each dog time outside the kennel for exercise, stimulation, and bonding.

Grooming and basic care – Brushing, bathing, and helping dogs feel clean and comfortable, especially those arriving in poor condition.

Food preparation and feeding – Measuring and preparing meals, special diets, and administering medication where required.

Cleaning and hygiene – Mucking out kennels, changing bedding, cleaning bowls, and keeping all areas sanitised to a high standard.

General kennel duties – Ensuring all dogs have fresh water, clean spaces, and plenty of love and attention.

Grounds and garden maintenance – Helping maintain exercise areas, mow lawns, tidy waste, and care for outdoor enrichment spaces.

Basic repairs and upkeep – Assisting with painting, fixing fencing, and other small maintenance jobs to keep the rescue running smoothly.
But not all vital roles are hands-on with the dogs—our admin and social media volunteers also play a crucial part in our mission. These behind-the-scenes roles help ensure we stay organised, responsive, and visible to our supporters. Tasks include:

Admin support – Answering emails, handling adoption and surrender enquiries, updating databases, and supporting day-to-day paperwork.

Social media & online content – Posting updates, writing dog profiles, sharing adoption stories, creating engaging content, and helping manage our online presence to reach more people and raise more support.
Whether you prefer to work with dogs directly, help behind the scenes, or do a bit of both—there’s a place for you at LUOSKO. Our volunteers are more than just helpers; they’re part of a passionate, compassionate family working together to give every dog the second chance they deserve.
No experience is needed—we provide all the training you need. If you have a few hours to spare each week, a love for animals, and a desire to make a real difference, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
